Tried, tested and proven for Excellency the Bose MIE2i mobile headset is meant to play the game for you. If these mobile headphones didn’t come with a slight setback, which we will talk about later, I’d have given a 5/5 rating to them. But oh well, you can’t keep cribbing about the what ifs and what nots, can you? Let’s get down to the brass tacks here:
Bose MIE2i Mobile Headset Review – A Noob’s Personal Manual
My friend, Scott, is kind of bullish when it comes to earphones, headphones or anything for that matter. Being blessed with listening defects, the guy is nowhere ready to accept his condition. In fact, Bose MIE2i is his 7th pair of mobile headset because he literally broke the first 6. Oh boy, talk about lamenting the fact that the so-and-so company didn’t make the product right… wow.
Anyhow, I recommended the Bose MIE2i and the guy is having a great time these days. No more complaining, no more whining; seeing Scott listening to his favorite tracks is like watching a baby nested in a mother’s lap.
The Good Stuff about Bose MIE2i Mobile Headset:
Amazing Fit: Forget about thrusting your earphones all the way through the ear canal. The MIE2i earphones come with a nice snuggly fit.
Perfect Balance? I don’t know how to put this: If you were jogging or prancing around in tennis shoes, the earphones on MIE2i will not fall off – They kind of stick in there as long as you want them to.
iPod Navigator: Oh yeah, the iPod controls on this Bose headset are phenomenal. It is safe to say that Bose probably made this product for iDevices because you can feel how quickly the controls help users navigate through iPod file directory, iPhone songs, videos and so much more.
Crystal Clear Sound: The audio quality on Mie2i Bose Mobile Headset is crystal clear. It doesn’t matter if you are listening to a song, or if you are plugged in on a video or simply talking to someone on call, the sound is purest as it could be.
Bose MIE2i Headphones in Action | Hands on Review
Okay, I am not quite done with stating the plus points of having these suckers. Some additional perks of having the MIE2i were discovered by people on the internet. There was this guy who turned in this mobile headset after a year of rugged use. Bose was all too happy to offer a replacement and that too with an extended 1 year warranty.
Get it? You ask them for a replacement and the company will give another year warranty with the new MIE2is. Then again, there is the proper Mic positioning on this thing. The Mic is well concealed within the headset’s layout, going all the way to the right side of your mouth. While on call, the person on the other end will never feel the difference, because to him, it is hard to tell whether you’re talking via a Mic or a conventional landline phone.
The Bad Stuff About Bose MiE2i Headset?
Yes, despite of all the glitz and glam, there are some things that kind of suck. I hate to say this, but it has to be done.
First of all, Bose, upon the release of MIE2i, said that this headset is meant to last longer than any product on the market. They also said that you can whisk away the MIE2i to your hardcore gym workouts, which I find very frustrating and equally disappointing.
How so? Here’s what Bose said in an official statement:
Can anyone tell me why the MIE2i Mic phases out forever? Your summer workout sweat will trickle in on the Mic and Zzzzzzapppp, it’s all gone. For a $130 product, I kind of expected it to be water proof. If water proofing is too much to ask of Bose, perhaps they could have made this headset moisture proof? We should have been able to swim with these babies…
The second major setback is the short life span of ear buds. Many people have complained about the ear piece rubber wearing off after a few months use. Whenever they head in for a replacement or an advice, the Bose representatives tell them to glue the ear buds to the core of the headset. This does speak of a major lacking area in the MIE2i development.
Our Verdict on the MIE2i Headset?
The MIE2i is darling of a headset that is overshadowed by a long list of its pros only. Of course these head bangers have 2 major flaws but at least they don’t directly interfere with the performance. If sweat is a major problem for you, go for Sennheiser Adidas CX 680i.
On the contrary, if you are looking for awesome noise isolation, crystal clear lyrics and nonstop hours of music marathons, I’d strongly recommend the MIE2i from Bose. They are worth every single dime, trust me.
