The internet is laced with rumors from the past couple of days that Pixar has no apparent plans for releasing sequels to its popular movies, such as, but not limited to:

  • Toy Story
  • The Incredibles
  • Cars

There are other titles in pipeline too, but here is where it gets interesting. So far they have confirmed the release or WIP news for Cars 3, Toy Story 4 and etc. However beyond that, as in year 2019 and onward, the studio is not that much interested in continuing with more sequels.

To be honest, I, like many other people from my generation, grew up watching Toy Story, Cars and many other films from the golden Pixar era. I also understand that the point of keeping something “classic” is to not keep on releasing its revamped versions, but cmon… we love these movies, and it won’t hurt to release couple more installments… Would it?

Jim Morris, president of Disney Pixar studios recently said, “Everything after Toy Story and The Incredibles is an original right now.” Morris does have a point because as long as the studio is going to keep on churning out sequels for same ol’ flicks, we ain’t never going to appreciate their other ideas.

On the bright side, other films such as Coco, alongside new original titles, will be released while Toy Story 4 and Cars 3 will be hitting the shelves in near future. I hope their upcoming work is as much impressive as what people of earlier generation have begun to fall in love with.
