And it is that time of the year again when Flu is spreading like a fire in haystack. Pardon the metaphor but yeah, flu and cough have become more of a viral epidemic these days. This time, the flu vaccination campaign is expected to go into effect early. The speculation came as a result of several accounts of flu patients who keep popping up at clinics and hospitals.
Prior to this year’s outbreak, flu used to be cured through preventive measures on individual basis. However, the doctors have strongly recommended patients to undergo proper inoculation to get rid of the disease on early basis.
On normal basis, the Centers for Disease Control, otherwise known as the CDC, recommends inoculation in severe flu cases. But right now, everyone is instructed to take a shot for average based risk categories. The doctors don’t want those flu patients to head for the high risk category.
According to the CDC, the vaccination doesn’t only prevent the person from getting infected, but also protects those around him/her. The Senior Public Affairs and spokesman for the CDC – Tom Skinner said, “Flu has been thought of as a minor disease. It used to be, but now it’s no longer safe to walk with a “little” bit of Flu. The disease could be life threatening and vaccination is good way of getting around it.”
Some doctors have even recommended their patients to sign up for the full vaccination package due to chances of getting infected by H1N1. Children under 9 years of age are specifically instructed to get vaccinated on emergency basis.
