PlayStation 4 came; it had its moment of glory and failed miserably after hundreds of people reported having issues with their consoles. What the heck was that? I call it a lousy product test phase. Had the PS4 been properly tested prior to its release, we wouldn’t have heard about all the heat problems, brick dilemmas and Sony ending up saying that “Oh yeah, those errors were expected. Don’t worry.

Same goes for Xbox One. Yesterday, while at a friend’s place, I was talking about the exact same thing. I expressed my opinions about Microsoft’s prodigy of a console in a positive light and said that most likely it won’t have any issues as the PS4 had. He said that you have to wait for a few days and see what happens.

This morning, while at a gaming website, I learned that the Xbox One has disc tray issues. So if you ended up with a console with super loud tray noise, it is not your fault. On the bright side, Microsoft is keeping up with the “small” number of customer complaints by quickly replacing the console through the company’s “Advance Exchange Program.”

Now personally, I am a Sony PlayStation loyalist’ I have been playing their titles has far as memory stretches. I did buy 3 Xbox 360’s over a brief period of time, but deep down inside, I always rooted for Sony. When I heard about the PS4 brick, heat and HDMI issues, I was at a loss of words. It was a true WTF moment.

However, I had a feeling that since Microsoft Xbox 360 had its fair share of towel and heat sink issues, maybe this time the next gen console would be flawless. It turns out that Xbox One not only has a noisy tray, but the Blu Ray media/ game discs tend to get hot after they have made a few rounds in that dishwasher of a console.

In a press release, Microsoft issued the following statement, “The issue is affecting a very small number of Xbox One customers. We’re working directly with those affected to get a replacement console to them as soon as possible through our advance exchange program. Rest assured, we are taking care of our customers.

In addition to the aforementioned statement, the company media representatives also said, We know that with a hardware launch of this magnitude customers will have questions and we have many avenues for customers to get the answers they need and get back in the game as soon as possible. Rest assured we plan to take care of our customers. Any customer who believes they are experiencing an issue with their Xbox One should reach out to us.

I like their customer service because it seems that they are not keeping people on hold. Sony said that at the earliest, their replacement consoles will be going out in January 2014 and February 2014. They will make a small percentage of people wait a little more because they did not have enough money to opt in for Sony’s advanced warranty program – kudos to that.

On the other hand, Microsoft Xbox One owners can get directly in touch with CSRs. I heard that they call back if your call is put on hold. I don’t know for sure about the real insider experience on this issue; your comments or emails will be highly appreciated.

Let’s wait for an update on this story. By the way, don’t forget to watch YouTube videos of pissed off as hell Xbox One owners. My suggestion is that if you have not bought an Xbox One or a Playstation 4, wait for another year. They will release new hardware with firmware upgrades, and most likely it will be slim versions.

In a way it will be worth it.
