Holding the Nexus 7 Tablet is Very Easy and Convenient

The 2 year old nephew of mine – Oh boy, he cannot get his stubby little hands off the Asus Nexus 7 Tablet. It’s not that he is a child genius who works on complex math equations when he’s not having his baby cereal – it’s just that this tablet pacifies the heck out of him. So why did I blow $250 on a tablet for a kid who’s barely 2 years old?

Here’s my story…

Asus Nexus 7 32Gb Tablet Review – Why I Bought it For my Nephew?

For a 2 year old, a tablet is not the perfect gift that someone would hand out. As stated above, my nephew is not a child genius. So the most he gets out of this tablet is a couple of colorful games, a few songs and anything of interest that could distract him for an hour or two. Especially, the time when he is being fed, we like to drive his attention towards other things because he is not a huge fan of food.

I wanted to buy the Google Asus Nexus 7 Tablet for the following reasons:

  • I wanted the a tablet that would be small enough to fit in my cargo pants. The 32Gb version was the most recent version that Asus released – so I went for that.
  • I wanted to buy this particular tablet because obviously my little nephew wasn’t going to be using it 24/7 – actually, I wanted to make it worthwhile. I got the device and thought of hogging it myself, rather than leaving it at the merciless disposal of the kid in distress!
  • Finally, when no one in the house is using the Asus Nexus 7 Tablet, I would prefer reading eBooks on it. This kind of device, with a 7 inch screen, would be the perfect match for my requirements.

Obviously, by now you are calling me an idiot because the iPad Mini (32Gb Edition) is available for $195. Why didn’t I buy that? The reason I did not buy the iPad Mini 32 Gb version was because it is slightly expensive than Asus Nexus 7 Tablet. Just add rebate tax, shipping cost and CA sales tax, you will be paying a lot more than the original price of the device.

Then again, the iPad mini had more width, which would have made it harder for me to grip the device. Therefore, keeping such factors in mind, I went ahead with the purchase. And you know what? I am thoroughly satisfied with my decision.

Asus Nexus 7 Tablet Lying Next to iPad Mini and the iPhone

The Jelly Bean (4.1) Android OS and several other factors make this 7 Inch Asus Nexus tablet a better choice. But let’s say for the sake of hardcore gadget users, this review wouldn’t be interesting if I didn’t add critical details about the device. Here’s to all those people who are seriously considering buying a cheap tablet worth their hard earned cash.

Asus Google Nexus 7 Tablet Review for Dummies:

I was originally thinking of buying a refurbished version of the Nexus 7 tab. The idea of 8 GB device didn’t sound so shabby. But after I was done looking it up on the internet, I found out that the 8 and 16 GB versions of the Nexus 7 tablet were not that good. Why? Lets see:

  • Asus Nexus 7 Tablet has a faster flash memory. In the 32 Gb version, it works at a data transfer speed of 480 GBs.
  • Look up benchmark tests of the Nexus 7 against its previous versions and the iPad mini – you’ll find out that the 32 Gb Asus Nexus 7 Tablet has few seconds shaved off in terms of high end performance. The device gets tasks done quickly, as compared to its counterparts.
  • The earlier edition of this tablet had several other issues, such as; color bleeding, audio plugs going bad, screen separation and etc. Asus received a lot of complaints concerning previous models. They should have fixed them but the company decided to release an improved version of the same product line.
  • The 32 GB space is not entirely available to users. You will be off with 29 – 30 Gigs of storage space, which is still a lot more than what the 8 Gb and the 16 GB Asus Google Nexus 7 Inch Tablet were offering.
